The same day I bought that .308, the dude that sold it to me asked if it “was the only gun I planned on buying that day” and shit the bed, a few minutes later I had paid for a Steven’s 320 shotgun for my Mom who lives alone. She’s retired military - got out as a Major. She served in Afghanistan in a command capacity. She knows her way around a firearm, but I still got her a 20 gauge :p. I added a rechargeable light on the left and a simple red laser on the right. It can wear eight shells and I wove her up a sling.

I sure hope I’m done pissing her off now that she has this.

I have these sights on several of my defensive handguns. Solid choice. I usually pick these up on sale from Midway USA.

Hard to go wrong at $190 out the door for a Rock Island/Armscor M206 38 Special. Essentially a Colt Detective Special clone with a few differences. Cheap, reliable, not pretty enough to worry about getting it scuffed up. A good toilet, truck, boat, or even defensive firearm for someone on a budget. My Smiths are way nicer and smoother but they both put a 38 caliber hole in stuff. First photo is with the two grips in the box and second is with a S&W 12-1 K frame for size comparison.

I only have 4 of them. and the covers that Magpul makes to keep pressure off the top of the mag fit so that was a plus I did not count on.

Handguns are a different beast from long guns. I suggest you find a professional instructor and go through a couple hours of training. It will be well worth the $$$. With an instructor you’ll learn safety (it’s a little different than long guns), you’ll learn proper grip, trigger finger placement, aim, you’ll learn to mitigate recoil and muzzle rise and on and on and on. You can also use different guns to see what feels right and experience different recoil. No one can suggest the right hand gun for you. They can point you in a direction but only you can determine what’s best for you.
And lastly keeping a gun under your pillow (I know it’s likely just a figure of speech) is a really bad and unsafe thing to do.Get some instruction you’ll be glad that you did.
Oh and one last last thing, after you get some professional instruction and have your revolver or simi-auto you need to practice and train often. Putting a box of shells through it does not make you ready to rock and roll.

Very bad idea, I hope it was a figure of speech. Add to that, getting a properly fitting holster with a trigger guard is a must!

I just read a post on another forum, a reminder from a gun owner to others. To sum it up, he was out of town, so his wife stuffed the bedside pistol under his pillow while he was away. When he returned home/bed, he feel asleep, and was moving the loaded un holstered pistol (think; nothing guarding the trigger) in his sleep, since it was poking him. He woke realizing his finger was on the trigger. Scary I am sure.

FYI the post from ugly Betty I quoted and responded to is from 2 years ago. Don’t know how I did it but I obviously screwed up. I thought it was recent. I guess it’s still good information if ugly Betty is still around. Sorry if I wasted anyone’s time.

Any recommendations on a brace for my 300? Guy at the range yesterday suggested a sig sb15 if I could find it. Also looking for a scope to put on it.

I wasn’t searching archives . I was accidentally on one of the first pages of this thread, didn’t realize it and responded to what I thought was a recent post. I admit my fuck up. But good response if I say so myself. I still don’t know when the post was originally made and don’t care.

First time firing the new Tikka UPR in .308 today. Took the day off.

First target I was hitting high and slowly walked the POI down onto target. By the time I was done I was smiling and satisfied. I fired 33 rounds in total at four different targets using almost all the different variety of rounds I bought. It seems to like the heavier rounds best. This was a simple 100 yard zero. I was one of about three people there so that was very nice.
