Enter room. Ask question. Receive reasonable, respectful and considerate responses. Get angry, swear, say you hate the topic you asked about, ask why everyone's talking about the thing you asked about and storm out while blaming everyone else.

Here is the summary of almost every oil change thread:

    · People change their oil at 100 miles, because that is what they think they need to do make the engine last to 1 million miles…even though there is no proof.

    · People think that you still need to change the oil at 3k miles or else doom will happen

    · People think that you are stupid to do it at 3k miles and in needs to be done at 5k miles….or else doom!

    · People think the 10k interval that Toyota say is just fine and thinks that the people doing it at 3k and 5k are just pissing their money away.

    · People get butt hurt really easily.

    · My daddy did it that way, so I am going to do it that way.

    · People fail to understand that the engine oil of 10-15 years ago is not the same as today.

    · People rely on youtube videos to form their own opinion without questioning the youtuber.

    · Opinions are like assholes….everyone has one.

    · ETC.

    Summary:

It is your truck, do what you want with it!

You've in fact summarized most of the threads here that involve any difference of opinion. At the risk of being that guy who thinks everything was better before, I spent a lot of time perusing the 2nd gen forum back when I first got one, and I don't recall this level of petty childishness happening back then in response to differing opinions. Maybe I have my rose colored glasses on.

Thanks for the Dude reference. Guru.

Can we do another chinstrap whistle noise thread?

Or a what size tires with no lift, or which fog lights, or which floor mats thread?

Like one of each every single day so that the noobs dont have to scroll past the 1st page?

I like to change my oil at 6251 miles- makes the motor last forever!

Yes it’s all very simple, do your research (it’s out there!)and change your oil at whatever mileage you feel comfortable with. Never ever ask for opinions about oil including brands, how many miles or what oil filter to use :)

I'm 51 almost, 3k oil changes in 1991 were normal. Things change.

It's simple. 5k or 10k interval, I doubt 1 person on this forum will have the miles needed on the vehicle to even care. Who's doing 300k to even care?

With that said, I did my own oil change at 3k miles. I'll most likely go 7000 on the oil i put in after, and trying to not go over 8k with the turbo ever.

7k vs 10k intervals over the 15 years ill have it does not add that much cost, so why not. I put in mobil1 extended 0w20 and will continue to use it for 2 bucks more per 5 quarts. This way if I ever do 10k, at least i have decent oil.
