    Good evening im new on this forum a couple days ago i was checking the oil before travel and i find metal shaving on the oil stick then i change the oil and find another one filter housing
    Im still have my extended warranty my tacoma is trd off road 20 with 92000 miles

    Im worry about the truck doesn t have a weird sound on the engine and check engine light is turn off

    Anyone have one idea what can be happen on the truck

    A few additions to make me feel cool.
    It is furry oil for winter. No real way of knowing. Send off a sample to the lab. Ensure oil levels are good and drive on. If you have a problem it will let you know soon enough.

    The shavings on the dipstick are from the dipstick shaving the tube as it's inserted. You can feel it scraping, no bueno. There's a thread on here somewhere about it and I posted some time ago in one of the sticky threads about the issue. I had the exact same thing, nearly everytime I inserted the dipstick and pulled it out. To fix, I hit the edges with a buffing wheel to ease the corners. Now it goes in smooth, no more shavings.

    Ive seen something similar on my dipstick when truck was new. More than that, my dipstick tip has like a scratch. I just hoped the filter would catch it, no issues as of now topping 20K miles almost. But if you do send sample, let us know what they say
