The truck drives fine stock lol. Just drive and maintain it . It will serve you well

 

If you're still under warranty, you probably should take it in and have them overhaul it. Mine is fine. I don't want to void the warranty with a tune and be forced into a 4th gen timebomb or downgrade to a 2nd gen.

Hell, I paid $25k for mine in 2006! TRD OffRoad 2wd quad cab short bed. 4.0 V6, New! How about those apples!

 

You must not realize that the US EPA is involved and forces efficiency and gas mileage onto the Toyota fleet of vehicles. This results in Toyota having to choke down the engine performance and have the transmission jump into 5th and 6th gears way ahead of where they should. All for more fuel efficiency. EPA is who to seek that refund from.

Someone needs to mention: the OTT tune meets federal and CA emissions standards. It most definitely results in an improved driving experience. The guys at OTT deserve accolades & respect.

 

If it weren't for OTT I wouldn't own my 3rd gen. And ya and the supercharger and regear

Yep but if they had done it from the factory they may not have been able to hit the MPG numbers they did with the very specific EPA tests that they obviously tuned it for.

Hitting the ETC button basically tunes it how it should have been from the factory. I just moved mine to my shifter for ease of use.

 

I found that after driving it for awhile, my annoyance with the shifting went away. Either I got use to it or it got use to me...

 

Unless you’ve had your Taco OTT tuned you really don’t know. I’d tried running it w/ECT, and can tell you that it’s nowhere near what OTT delivers. I also get better mileage than with the stock tune.

 

Is that one of those online charts where you can fill in what you want the results to say?

 

I ran the ect button as well,
It’s not even close to the tune.
I had the tune done Monday and am getting better gas mileage than before the tune.
Unless you’ve had it done you just don’t understand.
