I have some experience with type II, after a decade of restrictive diets, exercise and multiple old school medications, I was put on one of those newfangled glp-1. Funny thing is it wasn’t prescribed for the type II, rather another issue I was dealing with. 40 lbs disappeared, a1c consistently below 6 (which I never achieved on the old meds), no dietary restrictions (but I am not tempting fate by going back to bad habits).

I’m in the “precautionary” category for both diabetes and cholesterol due to genetic predisposition to heart issues. I worked offshore and worked it the insurance/claim industry. Here’s the real deal/down-lo… Diabetics and people with extremities issues tend to suffer from neuropathy. Neuropathy interrupts your bodies natural signals that something is wrong. As a result, that stubbed toe (that you didn’t even realize happened), gets less attention than it should have (oh, it’s blue, I’ll keep an eye on it, but it will get better). The extremity is already compromised signal-wise, so when it’s ignored, it gets worse… if it can’t be fixed, it’s gotta go!

if you’re in this category… take ownership of your health. Your extremities are VERY important assets, any injury to them should be treated as important. Arms, Legs, and yes EYES are in this category.

I didn’t see this as a rant and appreciate your perspective.

Thankfully neuropathy hasn’t reared for me. I am very cognizant of the progression and self monitor for symptoms in addition to frequent testing. The only indication I had II was a bloodtest, no other complications.

I learned just because you’re not thirsty or peeing alot doesn’t mean you don’t have it

Well manly men, the day started out dreary but brightened up in the way.


Fellers, never underestimate the value of being nice to people on a regular basis for no reason other than trying to make the world a bit better.

Wandering around HF and a cutie supervisor I usually gab with (she has red hair ) asks if I am looking for anything.

I said "no, just goofing off & looking for clearance stuff like usual".
(Retirement has advantages)

She says "How about that toolbox up front?"

I had missed it.

We stroll up front and find this:

So I hem & haw like cheap people do , she lowers her voice and says "I'm tired of moving it -- how about 400 bucks."

"Young lady, you just made a deal."

....And I just happened to have a $50 gift card Mrs Green gave me for Christmas.


Seven minutes flat it was in the van.



Came with 4 keys, all the drawer liners, a mat for the top and this ramp/writing desk thing , made of 3/4 plywood.

42" a perfect size - for many things.



The moral of the story:
She said she had the authorization to lower the price but the last guy who was interested was rude.

Take the pieces to work, mill and new replacement, paint it to match and the wind can blow it over with no real damage.
