Hello, do any of you have the 'Southern Style Slimline Front Bumper' installed on their 2nd Gen Tacoma?
If so, would you please post some pictures and your thoughts on the bumper.
    Thanks in advance.

I just ordered this yesterday for my '14 DCLB! Super excited for it. It's on sale for 25% off... Now I'm looking for install instructions and a half decent, half affordable light bar. I can post pics after I install, but it might be a while.

Not SSO, but I have the Warn version of this on my 2013. They have some decent install instructions, I can't imagine the SSO one being a much different process. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/warn-semi-hidden-winch-bumper.643985/

C4 also makes a similar one. Here is an install thread for that which helped me when doing my Warn bumper. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...pro-winch-bumper-install-instructions.457125/

I think these are the best style of bumper for the 2.5 gen. It fits the aesthetic so well it almost looks factory.

According to UPS it's coming in tomorrow! But, I'm away for at least the next couple of weeks for work. Still have to order the lightbar. Any suggestions for something decent, but reasonable? I'm going to hold out on the winch for now...

I would like to have one of these without the top bar. I wish that was an option because I like the look

"Without Bullbar" is an option. Take a look at their website.

Loose the bullbar. If in a minor accident, the bullbar will fold inward taking out your AC coil and radiator. Learned that from a person backing into my other Taco.

Are you talking about a steel bumper with a hoop attached, or that Avid Off Road contraption in your profile pic that has no direct connection to the frame? Because they are not the same thing and perform very differently in a collision. Anything that attaches from underneath and is cantilevered back to an attachment point will become a damage multiplier, even if the attachment point is on the frame. They just fold inward when hit. Hoops on top of steel bumpers are far stronger due to the lack of leverage involved. The bumper takes the force head on and the minor amount that the hoop sticks up is nothing for leverage compared to something that attaches from underneath.

That loop thing on top. Person in a truck backed up and their rear bumper bent the loop inward like it was nothing. The "contraption" on my now truck was made from well piping and connected to the frame. I don't think what was on my old Taco was really a good product. Came with the truck when I bought it. Gone now due to head on with dude crossing center line.

Yeah some bumpers are just made like shit. They can look strong but sometimes that hoop is welded to like 3/32" steel. Typically though, when talking about quality bumpers like SSO and C4, they design them so that hoop actually offers protection from things like deer. Some people even use them for recovery (not recommended) without issue.

Anything that attaches from underneath is a liability though. Doesn't matter what they are made of or what they bolt to. The main support is a big U shaped piece of metal. Leverage just isn't on your side with those.
