And for reference...... things can change in a hurry up there. This was an overnight trip, camped on the backside of Mt. Lemon on the control road. Woke up to gates locked going down and had to work our way up to the fire station at the top. Was dry and zero snow going in. Roughly 8,500 ft. Yes this is Tucson surrounding area at the bottom of Arizona and roughly 45 min up the mtn from my home. We actually do get snow this far south. 20171217_082628.jpg 20171217_082628.jpg 20171217_084837.jpg

Off-topic, but does anyone know a people person who’s great with tools and looking for a job in Phoenix? Preferably someone great with people—full benefits, commission opportunities, and a great work environment. (Mods, please remove if not allowed.)

I am officially ready for the gap! Found the off-road alignment wizard in Tucson and had him dial it in for me. I’m actually pretty surprised how close I got with the home-brew alignment using an angle finder and maths (minus the abomination for left toe, I was over it by then…), but dude got me exactly what I was looking for!

Also replaced the janky/beat up ladder on my tent with a more robust option and infinitely better hardware. I thought I was going to have to get creative mounting it, but I was able to salvage the mounts out of the old ladder and they fit right in to the new! I feel much more confident climbing up this one after getting overserved by robo-bartender!

Only other mod I might do before the trip is paint and install my diff skid, but that won’t impact my availability.

Will probably be going out this Saturday (3/15) to run Elvis around 9am. Anyone interested in joining? Have some family visiting and figured I'd take the son-in-law wheeling. I don't plan on making it too long of a day.

I have a local friend chewing on camping options for us. No obvious slam dunk spots. His first recommendation off the top of his head is look for space off of Willow Springs Rd, looks like there are dispersed options there. Will report back if he comes up with anything else.

He might join us for the day of. Super cool dude if you are willing to look past the jeep :D His rig is a beast though!

Great, thank you for outsourcing the camp spots. If he would want to tag along I'm good with it

Speaking of outsourcing this is always a good one.... https://youtu.be/rYaZ57Bn4pQ?si=WkuA9lfQUGMClqZq

It's not the best spot but could be a just in case if nothing better is found for Friday night camping. It's close to the trail head https://maps.app.goo.gl/pCED6V7YkxZZvsJX7?g_st=ac

I can go check it out this weekend but that feels pretty close to houses and such out there. It’s been a while since I’ve been back in there though, so can’t say for sure.

Rail X Ranch is off of Edwin on the other side of the 77 and would be more secluded. I can drive around a bit in there too and see if there are any nice flat spots for a group to camp in.
