10 PSI per 1000 RPM has been a ballpark number for many decades.

Well it's low per the factory shop manual, should be 45-70 at 3K.

10 PSI is a minimum to avoid damage, specs may be higher but 10 PSI tends to be safe.

Many newer oil pumps are variable output and not completely dependent on RPM.

Sure, but these are not, and even at 10PSI per 1K it's still low per Toyota and he obviously has an oil pressure issue.

I think you're looking at the compression ratio. No normal engine oil seal is going to withstand 218 psi.

Ignore the highlighted numbers. That was when I did the head gaskets. The oil pressure is the next one down saying between 36-75 psi

I’m currently running 5w30 per the manufacturer. I’m thinking of trying 5w40. Someone recommend 10w30 but I need the oil to be thicker when it’s warm so going to try 5w40 and see if I can improve the pressure

Brother I read thru your experience and I’m having the exact same issue with my 95. Was thinking the same thing trying diesel oil t6 5w40. Did you end up fixing your issue?

It didn’t fix my issue. I actually made it was worse. While I was testing the oil pressure I over tightened the oil pressure sensor and cracked my block. Talking to a welder he said he could fix the crack but I would need to pull the engine so he could get to it and even then couldn’t guarantee it wouldn’t crack later.

I ended up pulling the engine and just completely replacing the engine. I’m still having issues related to the engine but no longer oil pressure.

In the end I think I should have just gone with a little thicker oil. $30 fix vs $4000 fix. If that doesn’t correct the issue. Run your engine for a bit then pull the upper plenum and the valve covers to make sure oil is getting pumped up. If no oil then it’s might be a bad oil pump or might be a clogged tube. Both are fixable by you but are their own can of worms. Let us know how it goes. Happy to help give advice
