Has anyone changed out the stock 7 blade connector on their truck with a different connector? Would like to not need an adapter for smaller trailers. Was looking at using the one Toyota put on some Tundras, knowing that I will need to make up a bracket to mount it where the current one lives.

About 7 years ago I replaced mine with the Hopkins Multi-tow that has 7-pin and 4 or 5-pin. My mounting bracket was already broken for the stock unit so I did the relocate to the bumper which there is a thread on here somewhere for. Basically the trailer plug replaces one of your license plate lights and it mounts next to your license plate instead of underneath your bumper where it can snag on stuff.

Here is a photo of what it looks like mounted. Super simple and no bracket required.
