Deer hunting BS thread

Questions: think those are like this year or seasons past?? How long does it take to get to that level of sun bleaching??

 

These are from this year and antlers will bleach out fairly quickly. I found a matched set a few years ago, 1 side in the timber and 1 side in a grassy field and the one in the grass was much whiter than the one in the timber.

Very cool, wouldn’t imagine it would take too long in the direct sunlight.. many factors of course there too, just weather alone I guess the exact scenario never really repeats itself year in and year out..

also finding a set in two spots as you said is kinda like a cool experiment to me. I’m sure it’s neat to have them both! I like it!

 

I’ve probably found between 40-50 matched sets, some sets have been laying on top of each other and others have been as far as a half mile apart.

 

Just a lot of walking over the last 40 years.

My question is, what do you do with them. I know that some people do scrimshaw with Elk Antlers. What do you do with these White tail.

 

I keep the bigger ones and all matched sets. The smaller ones I sell to a local butcher shop and he cuts them up for dog chews. The ones I find on my buddy’s farm stay at his cabin.
