Heading on camping on Friday.. stopped in traffic and the jack A behind me was playing on his phone and never stopped. I had my Yakima box on the back which was smashed and it looks like my from pinched in the back. I believe that’s the frame and not part of the hitch assembly.

I just paid 30k for this truck less than year ago from a member on here. I’m afraid insurance is going to total it and offer me a fraction of that

    any suggestions? Think it’s totaled?

    second picture is pre wreck

Sad to say thats frame and its pretty wrecked. I do not have any insurance knowledge but I would think that would be totaled.

Could buy it back and have a welder fix it.

Frame shop could for sure straighten that, and myself... I'd cut that portion off and remake it. But I kind of doubt insurance will opt to take it to a frame shop to have it pulled. I would lobby for it if you can talk with your assessor.

Also is that a garage or just a really fancy gate to a courtyard?

If insurance tries messing you around with value use your appraisal clause. I used collision safety consultants as my appraiser and was very happy with their service

Definitely agree with this. Never tell them you “accept” their offer until you’re happy with it. Each time you get an offer, tell them no, they need to find better comps. I’ve even done the comps for them!

Did the camper come out unscathed? I haven’t figured out how to insure my FWC, this is a good reminder.

Also go through your own insurance, the other person’s insurance has no legal obligation to you

OP, Very sorry to hear it as your camper and truck look great in the pre-crash photo. I'm guessing you'll get a full pay-out. Like other posters said above.. make sure you're getting top dollar before accepting the offer. Do you have an after-crash picture? I'm guessing the camper didn't do well either considering the amount of frame damage in the first picture.

This is a tread lightly piece of advice, but unless you have an appraised value policy or an aftermarket parts rider policy, insurance only has an obligation to make you whole again on the value of the vehicle, not aftermarket parts or accessories.

Beautiful set up, curses to the texting arse [HONEST, I WASN'T ON MY PHONE!!!] who ruined your ride. I'd be purple because my BP would have been so high. Hopefully, as the frame is trashed, a new one will be covered.

That C-channel is so severely buckled I don't think the hungriest frame shop would attempt to straighten it. If a frame shop actually straightens this it's strength would definitely be compromised.

I agree with you that someone willing to do a frame-chop or stub-in a welded repair might be able to get a good truck.

It's only the last 6-8"... I'd just recreate it. But I've seen worse repaired on a frame jig, metal moves pretty easily when its glowing hot and tied to a winch haha

ugh, this is why we can't have nice things.
I am not saying it is,, but I would start to prepare for bad news, as that truck needs a new frame. Not only is that costly, but can take a long time to find a frame and strip to replace.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
With the frame as collapsed as it is, I doubt it.

The camper from the back looks alright. I’m going to take the camper off today and look at it.

I went through the person that hit me insurance.

Should I go through my own?
