I ordered a Denso radiator. I filled it with coolant. I ran the truck to test it. It has been driving without issue. I then moved on with my life.

my original radiator was old, dirty, with a million bent fins. The plastic end tanks were past their lifespan. Putting a new Denso solved this problem.

I am now free to deal with the plenty of other aspects of the truck that need attention.

Hope all turns out for you OP. These kinds of things with parts drives me nuts sometimes. I think in general, shopping online has it's pros and cons and this sort of thing is one of the big cons. You never know the monkey who's packing these things before it leaves the warehouse or the monkey's they have handling your package.

Thank you, I have had so many issues with aftermarket parts in general this one appeared to be because of poor packaging and rough shipping. (Fed ex)

I attempted to go cheap on "OEM compatible" parts for my BMW, and I found that the frustration just wasn't worth it. So many parts just didn't fit right and one of the supposed 'upgraded' parts wound up disintegrating! ARGH! It really left a bad taste in my mouth for these parts. Just about every new part I put in now, is Genuine BMW brand. Then, on top of that, you have to worry about questionable shipping. I had a box from ECS Tuning show up (with a radiator of all things), show up just beat to crap! Fortunately, the radiator itself was well packaged and was unharmed.

Now with just about everything available online, I really feel like I'm rolling the dice each time. I've had mail order RX shipped where the bag was torn open and that the bottle was damaged too. Tweakers were probably looking for good drugs. Too bad for them! I've had a lot of liquids come dripping all over the place. Some stores will ship liquids in a plastic bag, but even those aren't impervious to some of the knuckleheads in shipping. I've seen small things shipped in giant boxes with very little padding and the item just knocked around inside. What imbeciles! Ok, it is way too late to get my blood pressure up. LOL!

Can you tell this topic hit a nerve?

That's actually quite normal. They cut those slits so the whole thing can flex and expand a bit

The original Denso radiator (which was working fine - but was 17 years, and 135K miles old) did not have them, nor did the CSF with which it was replaced. I see that the OP's new radiator has the slits.

As I said in my post on the subject a while back, it was the combination of the slits, the poor packaging, and the possibility of contaminants in the radiator core, that led to my decision to spend 3X a Denso on a CSF 7092 radiator.

Denso makes a good product. They should, however, package it better.

CSF has breakaways already made into the sideplate to allow for expansion, instead of having them cut in later(slits that you mention)

Interesting... The CSF that I installed did not have those slits.
