Hi everyone! First time Tacoma owner, we have a new to us 2008 Tacoma TRD 4x4 V6 we just got yesterday and I'm looking for some insight on a noise we're hearing when we turn to the left at lower speeds. It sounds like a tire rubbing more than a grinding noise but we're not rubbing on anything. It does not make this noise when turning to the right. I haven't gotten under it yet to look at the CV so not sure what exactly is going on. It is a 4wd, it also makes the same noise in 4H when turning, about the same I'd say. No noticeable noise when driving straight at any speed in town or the highway. Didn't see anything else in search results so hopefully I don't have something crazy going on! Thanks

Welcome to TW. Could be the wheel bearing. There are a few threads on here telling you how to diagnose.

Typically a combo of rusty rotor/backing plate and a loose wheel bearing.

Sometimes you can simply jack the wheel off the ground and see if it has play, check the inside of the rotor for rust and the backing plate.

My money is on a bad wheel bearing too. @Bishop84 is spot on - jack the truck up and rock each of the front wheels to see if there's any play. The one with play is the one needing the wheel bearing

I'd hope this is obvious but don't knock your truck off the jack when rocking the wheel :)

Thanks for the advice, I'll get things jacked up this week and give the front end a good wiggle. Managed to get some new fobs programmed this weekend after finding the door sensor on the driver side had been disconnected. Got a rats nest of aftermarket foglight wiring removed, a new cabin filter, and removed a 12v ultrasonic pest deterrent from the dash as well. I can tell this is going to be a fun project for awhile!
