    Hello all,

I bought a used R150 manual transmission (around 175k miles) to swap into my 99’ Lexus SC 300. Being rather inexperienced (and rather stupid tbh) I tried lifting the transmission out of my SUV rear hatch area to try and put it on the ground. Long story short, the transmission was way way heavier than I thought and I dropped it on the concrete from about maybe 1.5-2 ft off the ground.

Luckily the bell housing (which I don’t need anyways) was still on so that took some of the force. The main impact I think was on the part circled in green in the picture since it’s the heaviest part.

i cleaned off the case with brake cleaner the best I could to inspect for cracks. None found. I also spun the input/output shaft by hand, they spin the same as before the fall. But I have to ask - do you think I caused significant structural damage to the transmission, whether it’s the case itself (leading to cracks in the future) or internal components? Or are these transmissions pretty hardy and can take this fall?

The transmission will be mated to a 1JZ-GTE, which is turbocharged. I’m curious if the extra oomph will expose and accelerate damage to the transmission caused due to the fall.

Does anyone have any first hand experience dropping and transmission and still experiencing a long and reliable service life out of it?

    Thanks for your time guys.

Send it!! Your scaring yourself. It's gonna take more than that little drop to damage that case.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
If nothing looks cracked then it's fine, should survive that fall easy enough
