Metallica Mega Thread (Now with poll)

I voted for Ride the Lightning. Any one of those choices can be my favorite depending on my mood but if I must pick one, Lightning was the first metal tape I bought.

First big show I saw in 1989 with the Cult..hilarious, two mid 20's ladies were next to us (3 teenagers and one guy's brother's friend who drove us all) dolled up like they were going to dinner at the best place in Boston..left as soon as the Cult got off. Saw them about 10 more times, lastly in 2000 on the Summer Sanitarium tour and said I was done.

My brother in law started hitting me up early 22 to go to Boston Calling for them and I wasn't up for it till he told me he'd never seen them. I was like OK we going. They still sound good but I was very impressed with the setlist. Memory Remains and Whiskey, otherwise it was Black and before.

Aside, if you get a chance to see The Four Horsemen (Celebration of Metallica), you'll dig them.

 

The Four Horseman, wasn't that one of Dave Mustaine's songs?

I wish Jason Newsted could have stuck around longer.

I don't have a favorite album, but Garage Inc with all the cover songs is pretty good.

Yes, Mustaine wrote a lot of the songs on Kill'em All and even a few on Ride the Lightning.

 

Garage Inc is good. I like how "Tuesday's Gone" has a number of different artist contributing too it. Peeper Keenan from COC and DOWN sounds great on that song.

Ohh...Just saw this. For me, based on when I was exposed to Metallica and what I listened to...Ride the Lightning. I was presented with Metallica in 1989 by a classmate whose sister had the tapes. My brother was always more Hair/VH/U2/Journey etc...
Metallica blew me away.
I listened to the Ride the Lightning tape so many times.

We went to the 2x shows at this summer 35 years later. He brought his adult child who is about 10 years older than we were when we first met.
Crazy that those guys I thought we're getting old at Woodstock '99 still put on a killer show.
So we got floor tickets and lined up at like 1:30pm.
So worth it. I was right on the rails both nights.

Even got a nice souvenir...
