Yea I thought about the block test, but I’m afraid of it being positive. Right now I could honestly say it runs and drives with no major issues, sold as is, and leave it at that.

Like the murder spork shovels that were all the rage several years ago....put a little tactical flare on something simple and sell it for big profit

I guess it would be a little easier to push/roll around on rough surfaces but it's not like it's that hard to move a normal floor jack where you want it.

 

Easier to move as long as you only want to move in a straight line...

 

Yea fair enough, I should’ve known a 3k Nissan would be a POS

 

I haven't been following too closely but sounds like it probably wasn't the HG and it just needed a new radiator cap and maybe a thorough system flush? If that's the case and it runs fine otherwise then $3k doesn't sound bad at all for it

 

Yea it just has a leaky muffler and power steering pump, and kinda loose steering

 

yeah, and honestly I don't understand wanting to have a floor jack on hand for 4x4 trips anyway, takes up a lot of room and heavy AF. Would rather get a lightweight/aluminum one over one with fancy tank treads if I really wanted to have a floor jack with me

 

Rough surfaces maybe but at the same time I wouldnt want to use it in dirt/gravel, looks like shit can get stuck in those tracks and wheels pretty easy.

 

All pretty normal stuff for a what, 20ish year old vehicle....my 4runner has a ton of high mileage quirks and leaks like a sieve, still rocking it as a daily at 270k

 

My boss told me that if I want to get an early start on an off-road weekend, slip out at noon on Friday.

 

That's a nice standing offer to have

 

The bubbling just makes me nervous.. I suppose it’s possible to have a small head gasket leak or crack in the head or block and for the engine to still run decent

 

the floor jack is nice if you have to do CVs and tie rods multiple times a trip… better to avoid that tho

 

Yeah that makes sense, I was going to say "rather have a Hi-Lift" but truthfully those aren't much easier to haul around weight/size wise, and always feel way more sketchy in use lol

 

All part of the endless rabbit hole of mods as you wonder if you should have left it stock.

 

My dilemma now is with my 4Runner. It's an 84 and hasn't been upkept it's whole life and after I put the 3rz in I realized I also have to get the 41 yr old chassis refreshed as well. I only need it for the truck bed but I'm tempted to trade it for an old Toyota coupe or 2wd pickup.

 

Yeah, had a blown head gasket on my Z31 with a VG30 and it really didn't affect it much other than getting hotter than I'd like when pulling grades. But ran fine all the same. All went away with new gaskets though and gave me the opportunity to reseal the rest of the engine. Man I kinda wish I had just sold the car and kept that drivetrain now haha, could have put it in a gocart or something lol
