Ha! Must be the new Sandiegocalifornia district in Guanajuato. At least according to your VIN. :p

I know you being tongue in cheek, but wondering WTF is this goofiness about. So I asked Google Ai since Grok wasn't particularly helpful:

While your Tacoma might have a manufacturing origin in San Diego, it's likely due to Toyota Auto Body California (TABC) in Long Beach, which specializes in truck bed production, not the final assembly of the Tacoma itself. [1, 2]

    Here's a more detailed explanation: [1, 2, 3, 4]

    • Tacoma Assembly: The Toyota Tacoma is assembled at plants in Texas (San Antonio) and Mexico (Baja California and Guanajuato). [1, 2, 3, 4]
    • Truck Bed Manufacturing: Toyota Auto Body California (TABC) in Long Beach, California, is a specialized facility dedicated to building truck beds and other stamped body parts. [1, 2]
    • Long Beach to Assembly Plants: The truck beds are produced in Long Beach, then shipped to the assembly plants in Texas and Mexico. [1, 2]
    • San Diego Port Processing: Pasha Automotive Services, a subsidiary of The Pasha Group, launched new port-processing services for Toyota Motor Manufacturing de Baja California (TMMBC) out of the Port of San Diego. [5]
    • San Diego as a Port: This means that the Tacoma truck beds, or other parts, may be processed through the port of San Diego on their way to the assembly plants in Mexico. [5]
So why did the San Diego bed plant slap a sticker with a VIN that clearly states origin was in Guanajuato Mexico. Tariff end around isn't plausible since build date is before the election. This is making its way into the sales info pipeline. There was a recall for inaccurate load capacity stickers last year.

No haven't talked to salesman. But mine should be right behind your truck. If not the same railroad.

Told today delivery to dealership April 6-18 on rail like yours. Trucks in Tennessee and this region come through Toyota Cincinnati.

Thanks for the update. Is that your original delivery window? My window is until April 13 but I’ll check with my dealer later today too.

Will the tariffs affect the sales price of your truck? I was told the tariffs won’t affect vehicles on the lot or in transit.

Yeah that date was about the time. Tariffs have not been put in place plus vehicle is in USA. If your dealer says anything then they are doing it not manufacturer. I would assume there will be dealers trying to profit off of this.

That's a question I wondered about. I saw some guy on TV News, a car dealer going on and on about a customer that layed down $80,000 for
a vehicle ( crazy ain't it??? ) .... then he said by the time it gets here he's gonna have to tack on another $20,000 to the price.

Wouldn't put it past the dealers to send all of us letters saying they are retroactively adding 25% to the trucks we have already paid off LOL....
