Put one on my other car and really love it. I have an irrational fear that i’ll somehow get it broken off on the truck and haven’t put one in yet.

Professionally we hate them, they only make sense if you have a skid you dont want to remove.

I've seen them stick because of neglect and offroading, but they are reliable otherwise. I just think theres better ways to spend the money.

I've got one on mine, but I rarely offroad so there's almost no risk of it getting hit. It's been really nice to have a tool-less oil change setup

I put them on both of our vehicles, and plan to put them on future ones as well. Saves a little time, less mess, never have to replace crush washers, no risk of ever stripping out the pan plug. Admittedly all relatively minor things, but over the life of the vehicle, seems like a good upgrade. Only risk would be hitting it on something and breaking it off, so if you do significant off roading, might not be the best idea.

I have the short version and the crossmember protects it for my situations. We have to stay on forest service roads or roads on the BLM so really slim chance of damage. Been on for 10 years.

I have been using a Fumoto on my Duramax for over 10 years and on my Tacoma for 7 or 8 years, no issues and on both vehicles it is no where near the lowest point. If you have factory skid plates on your Tacoma it doesn't even go past them.

I think it's a good idea, but for anybody that does go offroad, it may not be the best solution. A traditional drain plug still works just fine and can be easily replaced and sourced if need be.

When I went off roading to Death Valley (Mangle Pass), I took a good hit to the OEM skid plate right where the oil pan is. Fortunately, there was no damage to it, but if it has been a harder hit, who knows what would've happened. IMHO, having the Fumoto drain valve hanging out there all exposed is asking for trouble. If you've got a heavier duty skid plate, then you may not have that big of an issue.

had one for 6+ years, they work great. Good time to grease the 5 zerk fittings on the driveline while waiting for oil to drain

None yet, starting over!! OME lift w/ Dakars & 885's Remote Start w/ window control
I had one on my '06 2nd gen and I've got another on my '16 3rd gen... never had an issue with either - no accidental valve opening, no worries about hitting anything (though admittedly don't do a lot of off roading) Oil changes are quick & simple and if you use a drain hose from the valve you never miss your drainpan

They make sense if you have a skid

I have a RCI skid and the hole is tiny, no way I could pull a drain plug without getting some spilled on top. I don't want to pull my skid every oil change to clean up and I don't want shit dripping off afterwards.

It's for ease of use and clean-up. Literally every person responding with "a drain plug takes 30 seconds" is either doesn't have a skid or they enjoy pulling it down to clean it every time

I have one on my ‘13. Love it. Works great although a little bit slower at draining. Allows me time to grease the driveshaft and aftermarket UCAs. There’s a plastic clip that snaps on to prevent accidental opening even though I’m not sure how that would happen. Best part, no oil on the hands like a regular drain plug.

I love mine! Never had an issue and don’t fear it being one. It’s been a good 6-7 years on mine maybe even more.
