Lawson did not make a great varsity team first impression, if that continues I wouldn't put it past them to switch him out mid season or earlier. Especially if Max is doing well. No need to give up the constructors again like last year.

Obviously we're not even into race 1, but if it's any indication of the what the season holds for the constructors...This is my prediction and a bold one at that.

1st place - Mclaren - Star talent, podium points scorers.
2nd place - Ferarri - Star talent, podium points scorers.
    3rd place - Dare I say...Williams? - Two points scores.
4th place - Red Bull - Lawson isn't ready for the big show. Max will 100% be by himself up front.
5th place - Merc - Hampered by the rookie, George will have to fight up front by himself and I don't think he'll be able to do it consistently. I think Kimi will wad it up.
6th place - Racing Bulls - Hampered by the rookie, but could outplace Merc.
7th place - Aston - Alonso has to carry the weight of himself and the rookie.
8th place - Alpine - Gasly has to carry the rookie.
9th place - Haas - Ocon is terrible, but also hampered by a rookie.
10th place - Kick - Just straight trash - Bottom feeder team.

Did Ferrari take something out of speed for down force knowing it will be a wet race?

Max going full Kimi in the presser and Lando loosing it. LOL

Remember this is Lawron's first laps of Melbourne.

Mclaren already up to their old tricks favoring drivers and not letting them race again.

    Piastri
Seemed like same as most other teams. Most of the team orders were spot on, and Piastri flopping around on the grass was not team fault, car fault or even driver fault really. IMHO.

Which orders didn't you like? The hold steady orders were for the best IMHO (again)

Basically the don't pass Lando orders to Piastri when Piastri was faster and had the momentum going. Piastri wasn't too fond of those orders himself. Then 3 or 4 laps later when Piastri backed off, the all ok race now order.

End of the season and one driver is clearly ahead in the points I can understand, first race of the year and already telling them how to race, not a fan.

It is pretty typical of Mclaren though.

Well you are generally correct. McClaren is pretty strict.

That said, for this wet track, I for one thought they were 100% correct.
They had pace. The lead, both drivers doing well. Mostly good tire choices and decisions.
There is a time to let team drivers be conservative and a time to let them race . The tune might be different if something stupid happened letting them race each other on a wet track.
    Let's see what China brings.

And give congratulations to Antonelli. Wow!

I believe the actual initial order was to hold position whilst going through back markers until they passed Ocon, then they could race again.

Great opening race and Piastri did well in the last few laps to get back into the points with an awesome overtake on Ham.

I think if the safety car got out of the way a couple of laps earlier at the end of the Race, Max might have overtaken Lando. He was making him pretty nervous, so much so that he made a late mistake.

Maybe. Lando held it together better than the last couple years - as he should

    Was a great race!

McLaren are clearly the team to beat and hopefully the let Oscar and Lando battle it out.

I think there were three huge factors in determining the outcome of this race for McLaren.
    1. If the three rookies in the beginning of the race did not spin out the race would have started earlier and they wouldn't have had to deal with the rain at the end of the race.
    2. Alonso spinning out and crashing later on in the race causing a safety car for all of them to punch up really was a huge factor letting Verstappen Erase The 16 second gap that he was behind.
    3. That last minute spin out for Oscar that shoved him all the way down to 14th really screwed his chances finishing on the podium along with Norris but I do believe that they are going to let them race if they do continue to be first and second. I mean look at the way that Oscar was able to go from 14th all the way to 9th and that last minute overtake that he did against Hamilton was crazy. it was a great race, so happy that Norris won! let's go McLaren!!!

So what is Ferrari’s problem this year?
