I built a rolling rack for my winter tires, with storage for two kayaks above them. It sounds like an odd combination, but I was just trying to save floor space in the garage. It's pretty crude, but it works.

I've left my kayak sitting on the back deck uncovered pretty much nonstop since I got it 5+ years ago. Doesn't seem to be any worse for wear except where a squirrel scratched at it, and some of the nylon straps on the old seats degraded and broke but I bought nicer ones anyway that I keep inside.

I do have a new house now with a garage and a super high ceiling, so I'll be setting up a pulley system to hang it soon.
