So I recently had a fuel pump go out, before I replaced it I attempted to replace the CKS/CKP-Crankshaft position sensor and in doing so I ripped the wires out, ordered the pigtail replacement and couldn’t figure out which wire goes with which, I used the diagram on this website… now I have a Crankshaft position sensor circuit malfunction code, did I fry the sensor!??

    1. Yes I did, I replaced it straight from Toyota today, twisted the wires together, truck started fine and ran, went to undo them and add butt connectors and now it doesn’t start even when I went back to what I did in the first place

I’d solder it and wrap it with heat shrink….wouldn’t be surprised if that sensor’s wiring is sensitive to resistance. Butt connectors can spread out stranded wires when you crimp them, if you don’t have a solid connection you’ll increase the resistance which I could see in a crank sensor potentially make it read incorrectly to the ECU.

Check wiring. Do you have access to obdII reader?

I have a Scanner that is reading crankshaft position sensor circuit malfunction, I think I’m gonna keep trying until it runs again and do what your saying and just solder it tomorrow morning
