There is also a slight wobble when placed on the floor stud side down. All the studs seem to be in place….

& it was leaking gear oil.

Does it look straight when you look down it?

I don’t think Straight edge would give you much of the absolute tale tells of the axle.

it’s not wicked obvious depending on which side of the wobble it’s tipped towards. I did just notice this & I can feel the wear.

Other thing worth mentioning is I did the brakes around the same time as the bearings. Apparently the brake never worked on this side or stopped responding to the parking brake adjustment, as I was using it diligently. I had no clue until I started smelling rubber from the other side a couple of weeks ago. Took the drums off & the leaking side came right off. No need to dial back the star wheel.
I did have the drums turned at the time & now they catch in one spot on both sides. There is a spot on one shoe on the other that has clearly did not touch the drum.

Is it possible the flange (hub) is bent as well?

& just to be clear, in each pic I was referring to this area. The pics are as I turn it.

I’m still not sure I have an issue. Still trying to assess that. I have no reason to remove the right axle (I imagine if I did I’d have to replace the seal), so I have nothing to compare the left to. If it’s at all bent, it’s extremely hard to tell looking down from the splines. However, I’m unsure if those last pics are typical witness marks & if it’s ok that the axle rocks a little when stud side down.

265,000…. I replaced both sides (bearings, etc) around 2-3yrs ago. If it’s bent, it’s possible it was user error. The leak as well, although I’ve run the pics by some people & they couldn’t see anything obvious. My best guess as far as the leak is the brake not working on one side, whilst working on the other, had something to do with it.

Anyway, irregardless if it’s bent or not, I’ve got’a press everything off, so hopefully that’ll help get a better looksee. 1st though, I have to put together the press I had to buy :spending:yesterday. 1st time I did this I had access to someone else’s.
