OTT tune fixes the shifting, increases torque and hp without reducing fuel efficiency.

Got it tuned last Sunday. Such a night and day difference in trans behavior. Literally what you said, it now feels like how I expect a truck to feel. Completely satisfied and wish I did it sooner. Went with Lite/Mild as I don't need any extra help spinning tires in a midwestern winter.

So whats the cost gor an OTT tune? Is that an upgrade to OVT or different vendor all to gether? Already spent $600 once for something that didn’t even work.

This fixed the gear hunting for me. But the transmission would still be clunky when it would shift at low speeds in traffic or parking lots or at a stop then accelerating, it sounded/felt horrible with the throttle engagement...

    FWIW:
I had the Old Man Emu FK29 Drive Shaft Spacer sitting around from when I installed my rear suspension(2.5" lift) and finally installed it a few weeks ago... no more clunk and the trans always shifts quietly now. I still dont believe it every time I drive it... I dont remember what the tuck felt like stock but am curious if the spacer would help a stock truck if it had hard shift issues?

It's the software and cable to install the tune. All tunes are on this system. Things morphed a lot since the early days. Other people now make the tunes and most people have to have pro tuners do their truck, but you already have the ability to do it yourself. OTT is considered the best these days. They can email you the files and you can do it yourself, save some money and experiment with the various throttle settings at your lesiure. You can also go back to stock if you need to. It is much better than the old OV tunes, perhaps even better than the forever talked about final update.

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
Just an anecdotal observation here. I complained about that same issue for a year or so after buying mine, but it's gone away now. Never have that problem now. Can't remember the last time I noticed it.

The only exception is on the rare occurance when I'm pulling a U-Haul trailer on the highway and it downshifts for seemingly no reason. But that never happens in day-to-day driving now.

They have the OV tune software and dongle, so they can get the files for less and install it themselves.

i have the OTT, let me tell you any tune is just a band aid.
my truck was jumping rpms from 1000 - 4500 on i-40 nearing the border of new mexico from texas.
it did it worst going i-64 on those Appalachians.
OTT helped but the truck is "hallow". regeared to 5.29 and updated ott and that's where it really have that power in the low end.
havent gone back to i-40 or to i-65 yet but if i do i'll update if the rpm's jumps all voer the place.

OK but you are comparing a $3,000 plus solution to a $450 solution - you get what you pay for.
OTT is way better than Pedal Commander for example.
No OTT is not going to yield the same results as a re-gear
Is OTT going to get rid of the annoying gear hunting and make the truck a little more responsive? YES

For me it wasn't so much of "finding gears" but it hesitate shifiting especially in stop and go traffic. I was going up a hill that it lacked umph so I installed a Pedal Commander in my 14 Taco V6 and it made a world of difference. It was too aggressive on the streets so I leave it in City -3. Burning the tires (on City -1) at the intersection was cool though.

Thats what I do to make it without as many issues. The thing thats bad is when you want to accelerate mist of the time theres nothing there unless you manually downshift or like coasting down a hill, then you get nothing until it takes off and gives everyone whiplash.

Maybe a tune as well would help.

Faster as far as top end speed, it should accelerate faster. What is your top end now and how many rpms does it run at highway speeds?

I did have the OTT on my 12. I didn’t have my 18 or 2019 for long enough to tune it but honestly, I didn’t have a lot of Gear hunting issues, but I have heard that the OTT solved that. OTT definitely was a win for my 2012 even with manual transmission, could go up the passes without downshifting and definitely fixed the throttle response

So the fastest I've been before the 5.29s was like 110 115

Now it takes slower to get to 110 115 but I did reach 111-113 at 5krpm I think. Definitely before 7krpms
