Well it finally happened, nearly 16 years of trying to be careful and dodging crazy drivers, one finally got me today. The other driver ran a red light and I caught the back of his or hers car, I’m not sure as they didn’t bother to stop. Anyway I’m wondering about front bumper options, I haven’t really evaluated the damage yet but just hoping to see what others like in the after market scene.

    I s your truck a 5 lug ?
Since yours is already black, just order a whole new bumper off ebay from a Toyota dealer.
Or the fan boys here will tell you to hang a 200lb steel bumper on,and then you will need a whole new front suspension in order for your truck not to sag.

It’s actually a 6 lug 4 wheel drive, I hadn’t considered weight so that’s a good point, only thinking metal for a little more protection

Do you have a picture of your bumper you would be willing to share?

Even with 130 lb bumper (without any winch) you still need a new front suspension. Stiffer coilovers, ideally w/ bigger shocks.

I put an ARB Deluxe Bar on my stock 2014 TRD OR and the steering immediately felt floppy and underperforming. Drove it that way for half a year before dropping major coin on a full FOX 2.5 setup (front & rear) with 650-lb spring-rate springs up front which of course restored normal steering response and better-than-original ride quality.

200lbs. honestly sounds light for a typical aftermarket front bumper, I second the C4 hybrid and avoiding an over sized heavy steel bumper, they're great for low speed collision protection but at higher speeds something is gonna fold and if your bumper doesn't the frame is next. Sorry for the hit and run man that sucks. I'd be curious to see what it looks like behind your bumper/grille/headlights because the front end gaps are slightly off, most likely it's non structural brackets that are bent.

When I installed an ARB on my truck, I weighed everything I took off and what I installed. It added exactly 133LBS and my front end dropped 1/4” with the weight. I didn’t notice any change in steering feel. ARB is probably one of the heaviest aftermarket bumpers, so others with tubing should be lighter.

I’ll get some more pictures tomorrow, I was feeling frustrated today and didn’t feel like looking at it, someone running a red light and causing an accident is one thing but not stopping is another. I have uninsured/unknown motorist coverage but I’m kind of thinking I may fix it on my own. Here’s a few more pictures of the lines on the hood which sadly are off a bit

I looked things over a bit more and at this time I’m kind of thinking of just keeping things simple and replacing the bumper cover, looks like I’ll need the left headlight assembly but I would just replace both as I want them to look the same. Anyone have any advice on a reputable online source to buy OEM parts?
