Howdy all. Truck is a 2009 4WD V6. I need help finding where the piece in the picture below goes.

I accidentally left my parking brake on while removing my left rear brake drum, and this was one of the few pieces that fell out. I checked parts diagrams and, without disassembling anything, nothing looked out of the ordinary. Does anyone know where this piece is supposed to fit back in? Thanks.

That looks like part of the adjuster between the two shoes, located between the shoes on the bottom (can't see due to picture angle).

It's either for the piston where it impinges on the shoes [tho I've never seen that set up myself] or the star adjuster, betting on the star adjuster like the poster above me. Those do have to have something that rotates so the adjuster wheel can be turned while it's attached to the shoe.

That looks like one of the metal pistons that’s on each side of the wheel cylinder. On left side of photo.

The brake shoe adjuster parts are much larger.

You mean you were actually able to remove the drum with the parking brake on? I find it confusing and amazing at the same time. Either something is not working right or used some extreme brute force to get the drum off.

Yeah I realized my mistake when I heard things breaking while pulling the drum off using the two M8 bolts. But by the time I released it it was too late because the shoes were basically stuck inside of the drum. Took a lot of banging with a rubber mallet and prying to get the drum off.

That actually looks exactly like it. I'll take the drum back off and report back on what I find.

fxntime and Fish Taco were right. It was the one of the metal pistons that holds the tip of the shoe. My park brake accident caused the other shoe to slip out of its piston too, so I partially disassembled the shoes and got the piston back in it's slot (picture below). Thanks for the help guys!

I also mangled up the cylinder trying to force off the drum with the 2 bolt method. Might not be a bad idea to replace as the OEM Advics cylinder is a relatively cheap part ~ $40.

Sounds like some of the mishaps I made. We live on and learn.

Buy a new boot for it if you can. They just fit into a groove on the cylinder. If it's not leaking, the cylinder is fine.
