    Evening,

Found this Bottle Jack in garage. Must of orignally came from one of my dad”s Ford truck years ago, and they’re both gone now. The Jack says Ford. 6 Ton. Anyone happen to know what brand this Jack is or what handle would fit? Since lost the Orginal handle long ago. Went to look it up and all it said was Ford bottle Jack.

Fortunately bottle jacks are so ubiquitous that pretty much any jack handle will work.

ya don't need the 1 specific to that jack
Any good pair of pliers or vice grips to open and close the valve
then anything and any length that fits into tube to pump it up
    not rocket surgery
shouldn't need to buy anything unless you want to

Good point. Guess I could Also use the handle depending on how stout it is as a breaker bar extension if it ever came down to that

I sometimes use my cats paw on the 12-ton. The valve doesn’t need much to open or close and you don’t want to reef on it anyway.

Most 1/2 inch ratchets will work also...... The handle section.

A piece of 1/2 EMT works well. Cut a slot in one end for the valve. No need for a pin to lock it in as long as it's one piece.

Speaking of rachets.. while going through the garage I also found several breaker bars and rackets …the breakers were 3/4 inch.. I then did some research online.. found out a 3/4 to 21 mm impact socket that fits a 3/4 bar or rachet is around $15.00 online compared to a 21 mm impact socket that fits a 1/2 inch bar or rachet or torque wrench. Just an interesting find. I had thought of using the 3/4 breaker in my tacoma.. according to this chart.. I could just use a deep impact 3/4 socket to fit a 19mm lug such as on my tacoma.. therefore I can use the large Craftmans 3/4 breaker bar I found?

btw: check the stability of that jack under load.
i have never found an old jack that did not leak down.
they start slow but speed up in time. rubber parts. repairable if you are determined.

I stopped using bottle jacks to hold up a truck… too unstable. I use a floor jack with blocks on the wheels

How old are we talking? 90s?

I'd be a little bit wary of an old hydraulic jack

Purchased Toyota Certified, with Vijay bumpers, additional lights, and Falken Wildpeaks on Fuel rims. Prev owner apparently painted the grill.
Try the lug wrench. The screwdrivery end should fit.

It should be fine if it pumps. A jack is only to get vehicle in the air. Jacks stands or something similar is for safety and prevent disasters if jack does not hold. Test it with pliers and a jack handle before wasting time on fabricating something if you want to go there. Also the top section will screw in and out for further adjusting.

can always service a jack, unless the seals are absolutely blown out. a drain and refill, and then look around for another jack handle. in your metal trash pile. I know I usually keep them since my 20 ton press uses that style and on occasion its handle ends up in a random trolley jack in my shop

I wouldn’t use one to hold it up but maybe to lift for jack stands to be placed. I don’t like the lack of a cradle though so I’d NEVER get under it without something else in place first.
