Amanda is not picky about a car. All she cares about is that’s newer than 1995 (OBD2), the A/C and heat work, and it has a clean title; I saw this 2000 Plymouth Voyager by the side of the road for $1,500 and texted the number. It was actually on the “maybe” list, until the person told me that it never had A/C when asked if it had A/C; I am pretty sure that by the start of the new millennium, even the most basic Chrysler minivans had air-conditioning standard. This one has crank windows, but it has cruise control and power locks. I seem to remember seeing a “snowflake” button on the HVAC control, which would indicate A/C. What I think actually happened is that the current owner bought it with nonfunctional A/C and assumed it didn’t have A/C because it wasn’t getting cold… o_O

It could be as simple as a small refrigerant leak, or the compressor could be shot. Regardless, A/C repairs are never cheap, and this is a dealbreaker. Sucks, because the van is in decent shape for being in PA!

AC can be tricky, but I agree its a mandatory.

Those vans are far from bullet proof. It would be comfy and hold a lot of crap though.

I havent seen a Plymouth on the road in years.

If it has the 3.3L V6, it's good, but I guarantee you this one either has the underpowered 2.4L or the shitty Mitsubishi 3.0L...

My aunt and uncle bought a brand new 1997 Plymouth Voyager Rallye and had it for 12 years, putting something like 160K miles on it without a major mechanic issue. That van had the 3.3L V6, and it also had captain's chairs in the second row and a factory Infinity stereo that sounded great! My aunt and uncle traded that van for a new RAV4 Limited in 2009, under the "Cash for Clunkers" program, so it no longer exists...

    It has A/C. It just doesn’t work…

I found a rust-free 1992 Geo Metro from Oregon that had working A/C for $1,500!

I remember the Krap car as we called it hahah..a 1982 Plymouth Reliant almost went home with me once as a teen.

My $200 1988 Chevy Celebrity had nonworking AC but it was a $37 fix. Needed some R12 :)

Meth has most definitely been smoked in that Metro.
R12 lol. Can you even get it anymore?

We used a conversion kit years ago to convert to R134a. Worked shockingly well. That old rusty shitcan on wheels had better AC then most new cars.

My mechanic has a stash of R-12 for his old
Volvos, and he’s actually licensed to have it!

I got some in 1998 when I had the car..my girlfriend's mother's boyfriend did HVAC and was licensed so he could buy the small cans.

I raided some R12 actually last year from my uncle's house.
