My bumper disintegrated on my 13 Tacoma with 300k miles on it. It looked great until the day it fell apart. Getting it off was pretty straightforward. The bolts were not frozen and my cordless impact gun helped immensely. However, once the bumper was off I found a lot of rust beginning and took the opportunity to sand blast the rear of the frame and the receiver, repaint all areas and install the new bumper which I bought online for under $200.
I was surprised at how badly the original Toyota bumper had rusted. Nothing on the bumper was salvageable. The NEW bumper was not exactly the same was the original. If I had not reused the original receiver I would have had to have purchased mounting brackets as well in order for it to fit. I found this out once the new bumper arrived and the truck had been pulled apart. Fortunately it worked out well. Well built replacement, reasonably priced, easy four bolt install. If it lasts half as long as the original did I will be happy. I don't think I had a specific point to make, just wanted to share. Now it's time to replace the rear bumper on my 99 4Runner.

Where did you pick up the new bumper? My 2011 frame is in good shape but the tow hitch receiver and bumper are in bad shape from rust.

I bought the new bumper off of Amazon. I was just looking for a cheap alternative to the stock rear bumper. I too found a nightmare when I took the old one off. The receiver was pretty rusted. I sandblasted it and it wasn’t that bad. I will note importantly- the receiver is also what the new or old bumper bolts to. If you get a new bumper make sure of where it mounts otherwise you may also need to buy mounting brackets which becomes expensive!
because I was able to save the receiver the new bumper mounted right on. check out Amazon. There are several under $200 and they all come with shackles and even led lights included. Several different brands but they all look the same, similar price. If you do need a new receiver- most receivers do not have the necessary mounting brackets. Curt and load rite did not have mounting brackets. I’m away from the computer otherwise I’d include links
