I’ll cut to the chase. I shot a hole in my roof. Nothing but bad luck, complete accident. That’s not even the catch. The bullet went straight through the wiring harness that powers the dome lights and the Bluetooth/microphone, right above the driver seat. It gets better. I’ve pulled the headliner down, spliced all the wires back correctly. Bluetooth works. Microphone works. Lights do NOT…I’ve checked the fuses. Tested the bulbs. I’m lost. There is only one thing that’s off and must be the culprit. Splicing the wires back together, everything matched up, black to black, green to green, and red to red… except a bare wire (not coated(assuming ground)). No idea where it goes. It was in the spool of black green and red wires. But only from one direction. It’s driving me nuts.

I’ve searched for wiring harness diagrams, videos of headliner removal, just to see where that damn wire goes. no one else seems to have run into this issue… I’ve got the headliner back up for now. I was going to try and find one at a junkyard that I could peek in and get a better idea.

If it was a lead round you might have to solder some of the fragments to the harness to make a good connection again.

What a great way to create a hole for fresh outside air, unfortunate luck my friend.

A gun went off in your truck cab and the biggest issue you have after is that the dome light doesn't work... I'd actually that that is actually pretty good luck, all things considered.

But to your problem, if the harness has an extra wire on one side where the bullet when through but you can't see it on the other, I'd be willing to be that the bullet did enough damage that the wire was torn out a bit and that the wire is actually there somewhere deeper in the side of the harness that doesn't seem to have it. Can you access more of the harness and strip back the wrap cover and check?

That’s looking through the hole where the main lights are pulled down.
