    2" lift with billsteins 5100s
Hello there people , I currently have a 1997 tacoma , I installed billsteins 5100s with the highest set, but I feel like the suspension is really tought, I was wondering if theres a way to make it more smooth in overlanding, I dont do crawling or anything too heavy, I just drive through sand , dirt or mud sometimes in overlandind trips at baja.

I was thinking about installing new springs that lift the truck so I can lower the shocks , but I dont know if I should also change the control arms, if so wich ones should I buy ?

It's unclear what your status is, but I'm going to assume here.

You only installed new 5100 shocks. Reused the original, sagging coil springs on the front. Because of that you have to have the clip set at the highest setting to get a 2" lift (from your profile).

Yes, this would explain why it rides rough. You may even be bottoming out or fully extending the shocks and feeling that roughness.

I would get new springs and lower the clip position.

Don't waste your time with UCAs unless yours are broken or you need clearance for tires that are too wide or they are rubbing from wheels with improper offset.

Oh I see, yes you are right I instaled the 5100 and have them in the highest clip, I was looking at these springs , do you think they would fit right without changin UCAs?

I don’t know compatibility for Bilstein parts on 1st gen’s anymore. I sold my 2003 several years ago. When I upgraded my suspension, I went with the full OME kit.
