    I went from 265/70/17 AT3 4S to 255/80/17 Road + Trail this past November.

Over valentine’s weekend, my wife and I went for a 1000 mile road trip from San Diego, CA to Grand Canyon, AZ during the 1st big winter rain storm of CA and then the 1st snow storm to hit Grand Canyon.

It rained from San Diego to Barstow then snowed from Williams to Grand Canyon then next two days.

The road + trail gave me excellent driver’s confidence during the rain and snow, and had surprisingly good grip on ice.

Because the road + trail are lighter than the AT3 4S since I did go a bit narrower, I gained 2 mpgs on average. The tires are quieter than the outgoing AT3 4S and have much better grip in adverse condition. I couldn’t recommend them enough.

Just ordered some in 245/75r16, they will be installed Saturday. I'll drop in with first impressions then.

@Discount Tire, I would be interested to hear some details about how the Fuel Efficiency rating on the tire entries on Discounttire.com are generated, because I was very surprised to see that this tire was rated at much worse MPG than essentially every other AT tire I compared it to, such as the Firestone Destination X/T. The Discover Road and Trail was rated worse than heavier pure All Terrain tires despite being clearly an On-Road/Off-Road tire.

The data sheet doesn't explain any methodology or system and I'm wondering how a user like me is supposed to be using the system to compare tires?

Like, does Treadwell have a machine that measures a theoretical MPG based on spinning the tire, or do you take a survey, or do you put the tires on actual vehicles and drive them around?
