Hi everyone, just wanted to get your opinion. A local garage in New York wants to charge me $979.86 just for labor to install my Bilstein 5100's all around with 1 in blocks in the rear and 1.25 wheel spacers plus an alignment on my 3rd gen Taco. Does that price sound reasonable? Thanks.

Have you checked other reputable shops in your area to see what the going rate is? You can also look in the regional section in here and see if people around your area do installs on the side.

You might want to ask in your regional forum and specify at least a city. NY is a pretty big state, and rates can vary greatly by location.

And if their quote gives their hourly rate that would be important to know. 'Cause many will know how long it takes to do the work.

On a rust free vehicle, a frame lift and proper air tools, it's really a pretty simple job. Because lots of folks do it in the driveway or garage w/o those.

A shop in my area quoted me $979.86. Another shop in New Jersey that's kinda close said they would charge $650 to mid $750.

The rear shocks are super easy to change.
You could do those yourself and save some $$

Space you have to park the truck is all that's needed for the rear shocks.

Cold? Wait till spring. Especially if this is a looker lift and your not trying to fix something broken

I have a steep driveway and my taco won't fit in my garage. I can't wait till spring. I am getting it done on Monday and I'm really excited.

Thats cool! I can't wait. I'm staring at the 5100's, rear blocks and wheel spacers in their boxes and I'm so excited that I'm getting them installed on Monday.

Dang! That's a good price. The first local shop said $979.86. Another said $875 and change. A shop in New Jersey quoted me $650 to $750 I'm going with them.

Update, forgot to post the pics. Here it is! Bilstein 5100's installed on all 4 corners, Bison off-road 1" rear block and 1.25" Spidertrax wheel spacers. Total cost, $693.06. Man, I love how my taco looks now.

I was quoted $1,100 for all 4 shocks install. Didn’t in about 5-6 hrs. Took longer since it was 24 deg and had to use heavy warm gloves. Which also keeps your fingers from getting banged up. Had to buy a couple of very large sockets and broke a HF torque wrench. Ended up buying two different strength ones at HD which are waaaay better.

    Real nice looking ride.
I recently did the same thing to my 2022 SR5. Fortunately I have a large driveway so I did it myself. Besides the savings in labor costs, there is a lot of satisfaction in doing it yourself.

Never have understood why you Nor-eastern-ers want to live in such a COLD climate. During the winter and early spring while you guys are up to your waist in snow, we here in Texas, are sittin on the back porch in cut-offs and a T-shirt drinking frozen margaritas.
