Alright I know it’s not a Tacoma but I’m sorry it’s the same thing.
    My DD is a 97 4Runner 3.4 5speed.
I’m having a random issue that’s becoming more frequent. It’s very hard to explain but is worse when it’s cold.
On acceleration randomly it will seem like it shuts off for a split second and then is fine but will do it 3-4 times on my commute to or from work which is only 7miles. It was a small little bump feeling at first and has gotten pretty violent.
At first i thought it was a rear differential trying to lock up cause that’s kind of what it feels like or you jamming in the brakes for a split second so I changed all fluids, diffs, trans, transfer case all of it and no sign of metal or anything. Plugs, coils, wires and fuel filter were changed maybe 2000 miles ago.
    No CEL
Anyone experience anything like this? Kind of stumped.

Spark gap and TPS are my first culprits

Weirdly to me, my crank/cam sensors seem to lose fidelity under high load so that would be next

I had that happen and I replaced everything from coils, plugs, wires, maf, iac, vacuum lines, o2 sensor, coolant temp sensor, fuel filter.

Turned out to be my throttle positioning sensor. There was a spot where it would go dead while passing over. I caught it with my scangauge watching the tps position across the entire range, at one point it went 22% 23% 24% 1% 26% 27%

    Was the tps thanks guys.
Had to use an analog ohm meter to see it. Scanner was to slow to pick up the dip at 25%.
