We are headed to Tamarisk Grove tomorrow at 1400, staying in site 16(Cabin site) if anyone’s is in the area and wants to stop by. I will likely only do some mild trails this weekend if any, as i will have 4 dogs, kiddo, and grandma too. Will be a kids friendly weekend, in case others are able to book a site and want to come camp. IMG_3316.jpg

Went to Anza Borrego Friday-Sunday, had winds ranging from 5-40(55mph gusts) with a temp of 75. The campgrounds were full, but I rarely saw anyone on a trail or on the roads. Ran out to Font Point, Inspiration wash, mine wash, and grapevine to Plum canyon. The kiddo got 3 hours of seat time, so overall a great weekend.

I just booked our site for next seasons start, October 25-27 2024 Tamarisk Grove(ReserveCalifornia.com ; under “Anza Borrego DSP”) in case anyone else wants to book ahead, all sites are currently available.IMG_5063.jpg IMG_5062.jpg IMG_5051.jpg

Nice killabee and OP, we finally had a chance to make it out to Ocotillo last weekend but was really windy the whole time, enjoyed it though. We are part of the western wildnerness group on meetup app. Haven't had a chance due to schedule to run a trip with them but there is always folks here who I'm sure we could plan something.

What’s going on everyone, it’s almost time to start planning some trips!
I will list my current reservations in case others want to meet up. Palomar has no trails but is like being in the Sierras in San Diego county(hiking, fire lookout tour, Doane pond fishing). Tamarisk Grove is our preferred spot for accessing Anza Borrego and the BLM trails too(25-30 mins from Ocotillo), but there’s trails within 1/4 mile of the campground. They rent dry cabins in case someone does not have a tent, but they are basically a 20x10 tall shed with bunks(keeps you out of the desert wind though!), no potable water(bring your own).Lots of cool trails local to that campsite, including an old mine. Shoot me a DM if anyone is interested or wants to meet up. Reservations are through reservecalifornia.com. Im always game for new spots too, so if you have some, feel free to share!

    OCT 11-13: Palomar(Doane Valley)
OCT 25-27: Tamarisk Grove(Anza Borrego DSP)
    NOV 8-10: Palomar(Doane Valley)
    DEC 13-15: Tamarisk Grove
    JAN 10-12: Tamarisk Grove

Cool thread- came across this while searching for Mine Wash. A few buddies and I are heading out to do Little Blair Valley and Mine Wash, then going to camp at LBV. Looking forward to checking out the area.
