I don't disagree but the KO2 in that size only comes in an "E" load. The other question/concern is that in the KO2 some "C" loads do have 3ply sidewall some have 2ply sidewalls but all "E" loads do have a 3ply sidewall. My understanding is that all LT KO3's will be 3 ply sidewalls regardless of load rating.

Stick with tire MFG's recommendations on wheel width. Yes, at 36psi I would. My 285's are on a 8.5" wide wheel. At 23psi on the front all tread blocks or the full tread width is in contact. At 25psi the shoulder/outer blocks are leaving slightly less or a faded contact. So, I set at 25psi to help offset wear do to cornering. I also rotate every 5k miles including the spare.

I've seen the explanation of skinny vs wide and how skinny actually works better. Problem is that I'm 265/70-16 and going to a 75 is about my only option in 16s. Would love to see a BFG in an 80 series. To get taller than 265/75-16, I have to go wider too.

    upload_2025-1-2_12-21-45.png
    265/70 vs 265/75 - 1" overall equates to roughly 0.5" taller.

    upload_2025-1-2_12-23-32.png
265/70 vs 285/75 - 2.2" larger than stock and 1" of ground clearance.

265/80 would be 2.1" taller than stock. So I could have the height w/o as much weight slung around that wheel.

I would always recommend moving up to 17" wheels. Tires available for 16" have been on the decline for some time. BFG used to do a KO2 in a 255/80 don't remember if it was a 16 or 17. They also had a 34x10.5x17 "D" load that I was considering but every place I priced it, it was about $110 more per tire.

How’s the MPG so far? Not sure if I can commit to the E rating but I really don’t want to wait for the C

I'm trying to decide between KO2 or KO3 in 285/70R17. I'd like to try the newer KO3 but they are 56lbs vs 51lbs for the KO2 in that size, load C. My truck is already underpowered and I hate to add more weight to the tires. I've been happy with the KO2's that are currently on it.

When my current Yokohama AT4s wear down, I’m torn between getting another set or trying the K03’s. Im mostly concerned about the wet traction of the K03.

Excellent Vid! And that's a great endorsement. Looks like the kind of driving and terrain I encounter out here 2000 miles away (assuming those were Pennsylvania Plates?)
Like the mudflaps too. Very Classic.

Thank you, and yes I am in south eastern PA.
sorry I forgot to answer your initial questions,
    • What kind of Taco do you have?
      • 2021 Taco TRD Offroad stock suspension
    • What kind of driving do you do?
      • 90% on road, 10% offroad if that.
    • What size did you get?
      • 265/70r17
    • What load rating did you get?
      • load range E
    • How many miles do you have on them?
      • two oil changes, so close to 10k miles
    • Would you buy them again or go back to the KO2's?
      • had 4-5 sets of ko2's on my previous vehicles and I am 100% happy with KO3. It does great on road and off road, I have driven on the beach, rocks, grass field, through Boston snow storm, handled very well.
