Icon add a leaf u bolt torque

    So did an add a leaf install and torqued my u bolts to 95lbft according to the icon add a leaf instructions it says 120lbft doesn't it seem kinda high?
    For a 19 dcsb

    Are they the original factory U bolts amd nuts?

    If so use the factory spec which (please confirm on your own) is 73ft lbs.

    If they are all aftermarket hardware however, always always always do exactly as the install instructions say, failure to do so can result in accident or death, or worse!

    They're icon u bolts yeah definitely will torque them to instructions specs just seemed alot more than any others looked everywhere to confirm but no luck. Thanks the response

    Yeah but their engineering department spec'ed those values for a reason, maybe their bolts are higher grade, or a more coarse pitch etc you never know so it's best to default to their instructions.

    For what it's worth IIRC my ARB (OME) bolts and Timbren bump flips have less engagement with the axle (removes the factory axle saddle perch with only the two round U bolts making contact) and the torque on those is like 98ft-lbs IIRC.

    You wont crush your axle tube by any stretch of the imagination if that's what you're worried about, you will snap a U bolt before damage can be done to the axle.

    But yeah definitely torque them suckers down, a U bolt that's a little loose is worse than one that's a little tight.

    I think this got revised if you look on icons website the instructions for the U bolts themselves state 90ft/lbs
