TL;DR, Hino (owned by Toyota) imported 105k diesel engines into the US between 2010 and 2019.

Hino unlawfully imported over 105,000 engines that did not comply with U.S. emissions standards and lied about what it was doing" --Adam Gustafson, acting assistant attorney general for the Justice Department.

Justice department said in the charges that it gave Himo an unfair business advantage.

The USA diesel standards on imported motors are utter bs IMO.
