Recently my steering pump started squeeling and I went to Napa to get a new one ( I want the fully built assembly). I was told that not all pumps for my 2.7 are the same depending on if my truck was built after April 2001. Does anyone know why this is and if all steering pumps for the 1st gen 2.7 are the same or what the differences are?

    Need exact part# per vin

    however,

many threads out here that P/S pump replaced and same issue remained

    b4 dropping $200+ on pump

clean screen that is incorporated in the p/s reservoir. That will only cost you 3cans of brake clean and the O-ring

mine showed 15% of flow thru with flashlight test bc of clogged screen
    Working properly afterwards

lots of threads and vids out there!

AS CC says....a lot of times its a clogged screen in bottom reservoir

kinda tough to clean without taking it off

took mine off....and had to replace that o-ring to stop leaking when I put it back

    simplest first

I'll take it apart and clean it out, so thank you for that advice. I was more so curious to whether all 1st gen 2.7 engines are the same since on the Napa side of things for the steering pump, they say its not, but that doesn't sound right to me

Dont know if 2001 is the same

somewhere in there they switched to electronic solenoid....instead of vac

probably something napa was trying to nail down on later models

I havent had good luck with napa toyota oem reman parts....
two years ago a master cylinder out of the box would not hold pressure
