Lighting for Bed

I’m looking to add a light either LED or halogen to my tacomas bed that I can use to light up the bed or swivel it and light up whatever outside the bed.
What are some suggestions for lights and what’s the best way to wire them?
Mostly how should I run wire from the light to the inside of the cab for a switch? Thanks !

 

There are different options for this. It really is going to be preference. Purchase a wiring harness kit for like fog/led strip lights. It'll come with a relay and all the necessary wiring to set it up. I mean you can hard wire it but I would suggest using a kit as it comes with a relay and fuse link. You can purchase one from Amazon but make sure you read reviews as some of these kits are made cheap.
Regardless youll have to route the wires through the cab depending where you are mounting your switch. Below is an example of these kits. You might find other vendors with better quality kits. Good luck

Would depend upon what Gen Tacoma your referring to but on my second gen behind the drivers side seat there's a plug in the floor you can run the wire through.

lift the carpet up on the rear and youll see where some of the plugs are at. Pick one and route

 

As you can see I have LED lights on my "roll Bar/ light bar" and I didn't want to drill any unnecessary holes. I used standard light kit as suggested above, and ran them into the engine bay(through the steering wheel gasket), as you be installing lights on the front. But I bought some extra lengths of the same gauge red & black wires that you would normal connect to your lights. Connected them to the wiring harness, with those extra long now, I ran them down underneath and (close the brake lines...then I ran it back up in between the bed and cab. I put it all in a wire loom and zip tied it securely. Had it that way for years with no issues. Or you can do a combination an utilize the hole/plug as others also described.
I also used a Microtuning wiring kit from Ebay and its good quality.
