it wasn't even the quality--some of the cabela's stuff was pretty cheap, but it was unique. but the core markets they went for were very different. cabela's was an outdoor store, specializing in stuff for all of outside, from camping/hiking, to hunting supply and caught-game prep. one could plan an entire hunting expedition without leaving the store. bass pro is a fishing-first store that happens to also sell stuff for other outdoors hobbies, but clearly would prefer if we'd all just stick to fishing day trips only.

when the merger first happened, i never knew until i started seeing the inventory levels of shoes, knives, flashlights, and camping gear start to dwindle, and questioned why.

 

@koditten it only took me a year, but I got the sign hung

I only had to spend $1,000 to get the garage worthy enough to hang it

 

I bet you'll want more signs now.

Pictured in "The Getaway" (1972) with future wife Ali McGraw and Slim Pickins, this is a fun action packed movie worth seeking out.
