What else do I need to hook the HF winch (Badlands 12k) to an aux switch?

Does it come with a solenoid power interrupt kit? I see this in the manual:

and that a disconnect switch is included:

I've seen threads that talk about getting a winch power interruptor kit for their winch to attach it to their AUX buttons in the cab. Something like this:

Is this dumb? Should I just use the included disconnect switch and mount it in the engine bay? I'll need to route the clutch as well, and have the controller panel access, so I'll already have the hood open. I can save the aux buttons for things like light bars, is that the best use of them?

    Thanks!

Where are you planning to mount the winch? The Badlands control box is ridiculously large. If you are planning on a hidden front bumper installation it won't fit. I went with a Smittybuilt 10K. Others can chime in with what fit on theirs.

Here is a thread on using included aux switches:

Wait, really? Aaugh...! I got the RC hidden winch mount arriving tomorrow and the Badlands 12k already in the garage...! Nooooooo....

Do you know for a fact this is impossible or just guessing?

Looking at I'll be using as a guide, I see there may be enough clearance?

It looks snug for sure, and I'd be fine with some light trimming, but ugh. This was goign to be my spring break project starting tomorrow. I guess I'll report back.

Looks like two reporting installing a winch on hidden bumpers on your link. Both did not use the Badlands 12K. Remember we have the active shutter grill. My control box is separated and attached off axis to the winch. I can't imagine much difference in clearance between my CBI and yours. Harbor Freight can be returned?

Also, reference the Warn winch solenoid in my post later on. It shorted and I Amazon shipped a different relay on the road. The control side of the relay is wired in to the aux switch connection in the engine bay.

Edit: Those Badlands 12K winches look good on open bumpers like the Jeeps.
