4 Low error help please

I recently did a Chrome delete on my four wheel drive control. I put black AJT on. I believe I put I put it back together wrong. I assembled it and put it back in the truck. I noticed that I could not get it to turn to 4Low at the same time a 4 low malfunction popped up. I took it back off and disassembled, noticing that I had put it together wrong. I corrected that, but when I put it back in the truck, the 4 low malfunction is still displayed. I disconnected the battery for about thirty minutes, hoping it would clear. No luck. Do I need to purchase a new four wheel drive switch. Or do I need to take it to a dealership? And maybe have the code cleared? Sorry to sound clueless but I am. Appreciate any help you can give.

 

Did you watch and follow the AJT video? IIRC, yes, you have to pay attention to how things are aligned, but I don’t recall it being too difficult. Watch the video again and see if there was anything you may have missed. No issues on mine so far.

 

Just go on some grass and crawl around in 4 lo. Probably just needs to reset itself. Can’t imagine you broke anything by doing a chrome delete

The replacement 4WD knob for Gen2 is the same as the climate control knobs. Simpler... I hope this helps solve the problem.

I always watch the install videos three times or read instructions so I'm sure I understand how to assemble things, and also keep the instructions handy. Climate knobs, fob cases, shift knob, battery clamp... I printed the instructions for the Extruded Solutions, Inc. tailgate seal kit so I had their photos handy when I installed that, too.

 

All the 4WD knob does when going from 4H to 4L is it takes away ground on one circuit. I have a hard time seeing how anything at the knob could cause any sort of error.

 

Yep, that’s the video. Watched it one time through, then went out to the truck and followed the video as I changed the knob. I remembered all the ‘align’ comments, but watching it again just now, I’m not sure you can assemble it incorrectly.

Maybe OP can remove and re-install the knob, following the video again. Worth a try.
