Kinda echoing what everyone said, maybe if it was done Friday *morning* (early) it wouldn't be a big deal since yall would be there later that day, but days in advance, no. I'd never do it just for fear my stuff would get stolen, but hey I have no faith in humanity so I guess it goes two ways.

Better question is, why waste 4 hours driving there and back when you could have just taken Friday off completely instead of work 4 hours then taking it off?

It looks like a Rainbow camp. Don't want to get into the Rainbows but they're rarely kind to the places they hold their gatherings unless the FS is right there when they are packing up camp. They (FS) has to budget extra cleanup $$ and manhours when the Rainbows have held gatherings in the NFs around here. Never understood it, they're supposed to be peace loving hippy types but they can sure jack up the forest and frequently get kicked out before their event is over.

    Minor hijacking ...

Sedona has official AND legal homeless camps ... previously were "city parks". Opened to let people sleep in their cars because you cannot rent apartments at their wages.

The way a seat is “taken” is when your bum is sitting in it. Same applies here. Go camp it out every one of those days and enjoy, or roll the dice.

I read a little bit on them with your link and the hypocrisy is strong. Not to mention it's a common sense thing to pick up your own mess regardless

Seems fine on merit, but like...Sedona? A beautiful tourist location?

Rents are so high the "serving staff" at local restaurants cannot afford apartments. Seems the logic was "either harass them where they will sleep anyway, or make it official".

    Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.
A few years ago we camped near a group of campers that looked very similar to the picture posted. Was quite disgusting.
Imagine our surprise when we woke up one morning and they were all gone. Every single spec of trash was also gone, I couldn’t believe how clean they left the site.

This is how it started in parts of Utah, then people started parking RV's out there in the woods all summer long, months on end, and then the areas were subsequently closed to the public. This is how we lose our access to public lands. If said person set up camp, and stays out there from Wed-Fri waiting on others, that's fine, but if he is not staying the night, then it's just trash left in the woods.
