My speedometer is about 11-12% too fast.

My Toyota Original Gear Sub Assembly is [30 tooth] part #33403-29105

Does anyone know if there is a 33 or 34 tooth replacement?

I have gone down that road without success. While a few Yotashop items state
a range of years that fit my truck ... I emailed them days ago and they said NO 33 teeth will fit.[if 33403-29105 is default][that query posted below]

I also went on another site and searched 33403-39415 part for my Tacoma and it said it WILL NOT FIT.

The adventuretaco.com is a different year Tacoma or maybe TRD... as my Tacoma does not have that extensive skid plate.

I have redacted Yotashop employee and my email

It looks like that table is just echoing Toyota's own compatibility table. Toyota's table isn't truly a "what can this possibly fit" table, it's a "what vehicles were equipped with this from the factory" table. There are all sorts of parts that can fit even if Toyota never installed them from the factory.

I'd bet that the 33-tooth gear was only installed in trucks with a 4.56 final drive ratio. As far as I know, that final drive ratio was only used with 3RZ trucks with automatic transmissions. It's possible (but I can't say for sure) that it was only used from 1997 on. If so, that would match the compatibility table you're looking at.

@turbodb's (adventuretaco)'s is a 2000 model year TRD with an aftermarket skid plate, but it still uses the same basic transfer case design as your 1997.

@Kirkman42 - that 33-tooth gear definitely fits in our transfer cases. I've had it installed for 6 years now.

Another option is to go with a Lutzauto correction device. This device is inserted (plugs in) between the speedo gear and wiring harness and is adjustable by 0.5% increments up and down so you can dial in your Odo OR Speedo (but not both at the same time). This is no different than the speedo gear though, from that perspective - you get one right or the other.

You can read details about the Lutz (which I installed but ultimately removed), here:

Note: even though I removed it, I think it's the best device for the job, if you really care about accuracy of your ODO.

(thanks for tagging me Alex @6P4 )

the easy swap did not fit. Lengths are different.
It is easy to see that the speedometer cable cant reach the slot.

I think we missed something. if you have a speedo cable, you need a longer speedo gear shaft. The speedo assembly used with the 33-tooth 33403-39415 converts the signal into electrons for communication with the speedo; there is no physical cable.

Here are the 30- and 33-tooth from the non-cable speedo assembly, which both match the shaft length of your 33-tooth:
