When I'm at low rpms but pushing the pedal to accelerate but not enough to down shift it feels like it misses or it shudder. I used to have a 2020 zrd that did something similar and it was the torque converter. I've only had this Taco since Dec. It's a 2023 TRD OR

Just wondering if this is the normal tocoma transmission issue I just need to live with

Sounds pretty normal, but you're under warranty, so see what dealership says.

You can look up or to check your fluid level,it’s a little involved but not too complicated. That’s the first place I would start as Tacomas are known for low tranny fluid ( I mean gender neutral shifting fluid).

Unfortunately it is normal. Seek a tune solution to fix the issue

I don't feel a miss or shudder. Does the truck feel under powered until it down shifts? Yes, but it should not be missing or shuddering.

I would check the fluid level. If you are only checking the level you can jump to 3:50 in to this video.

Mines a 2016, i do not have a tune and it does not shows these symptoms you are describing so to me, it does not sound normal.

Mine does it. I check the AT fluid and it was normal. I did bring mine in to the dealer and of course they said it was normal. I drive with the ETC button on and the truck drives perfectly. It will downshift a lot quicker so it doesn’t lug the motor. The motor seems happier at a higher rpm.

Look into a OTT tune. You will be amazed by results. I went mild/medium. Many choice, then will let try many combinations of what they offer. Price depends on whom does it, average is $500.

Mine does it too. I have evolved into basically driving in a manner that locks out 6th and even 5th depending on my route. Everything seems better when I give the truck a little more hell and keep the RPM up.

Somehow, my MPG has actually improved. Whatever. I'll get a tune at some point down the line as many swear by it.

These transmissions are adaptive so try disconnecting the negative battery cable for maybe ten minutes reconnect and allow the transmission to relearn.
