I’ve bolted some stuff to it *lists cool stuff here*
thanks for the response! That makes sense, the Lopi stove in my home growing up didn’t have this.. The split one seems to still do what’s intended fairly well. Haven’t been too big of a hurry but curious to see if anyone has had similar experiences..

Ceramic baffles have been around ever since the EPA figured out stoves/fireplaces can be regulated.

Finally got the 110+ ring white oak finished up and hauled to the shed. Went through a couple cords or more of wood this winter. Everything pictured is since Helene went through. Two courses of cured wood left in shed for next season. IMG_2859.jpg

A little more ax work to go from Saturday, 3 chunks to finish up. Plenty more trees to clean up but any firewood past this will be for neighbors or hunting rights.

two pictures showing before and after we installed a wood stove in our house in deep east Texas. Neighbors thought we were nuts....until an ice storm took out the power in our area for a couple weeks in 2021.

I've never targeted red alder for fuel before but I have begun transitioning my hillside homesite from a primarily hardwood stand (and blackberry patch) to more native softwoods. I took 4 down over the winter and laid it up for splitting. I've had a few get in the mix before and they seem to burn quick and leave more ash. Anybody burn bunches of it? What say ye?

Sounds like poplar. Burns quick, hot, leaves a fair amount of ash. Doesn't make a creosote mess.

Sweetgum leaves a lot of ash too. Yes, I’ve burned it when I wasn’t able to be picky about firewood.
