I would think it should get around 20 after it breaks in

Winter gas will also drop it by about 2mpg.

I just did 21-22 going back and forth on the interstate about 200mi between cities in Western/Central NY last weekend. Conditions were basically exactly the same as tobyp described, though my tires are a couple PSI higher. I just rolled over 4k, so I'm not even close to broken in.

I’ve had my 24 Pro for almost one year and 5,000 miles. I get 17.5 mpg regardless of city or highway driving.

At what mileage would y'all say the truck is completely broken in?

I highly recommend installing the fuelly.com app on your phone and plug in the numbers at each fillup.

Why, what's the point in it, You bought the truck and the MPG is what it is, nothing is going to change that.

I guess this normal if this is how you drive. When I'm on the freeway, I can get 23MPG or more depending on the hills/inclines I have to deal with. I'm usually going 60-70 and I'm very careful with the gas pedal. If I throw caution (and fuel economy) to the wind, I could make my highway mileage tank to the 15MPG range.

To have a nice history of tank average.

And what purpose does that serve ,after a decent number of months you know what your MPG is and will be going forward. It is useless information. Nothing you can do about it so why bother tracking it.

Two more fill ups today on way home. At 450 miles on the odo I filled up near Cleveland and saw 16 mpg, filled up again in Richmond Indiana and saw 18 mpg. So I think it may be regional quality of fuel, wind coming at me straight and the ecm and I getting used to each other. Towing the boat 15 miles dropped the avg to 16.5 to be expected. Not too shabby. The truck is fun, I can accept a bit from advertised mileage but 8-10 seemed too far off

You are lifted with big, heavy tires and these iForce-Max hybrids are known to struggle meeting the claimed EPA numbers. Warmer weather will give you a bump.

I agree with Ivmusicman. You bought the truck and no one buys a truck for its mpg. Everyone knows most truck mpg sucks. Some suck worse than others. . I can see periodically, once a year or so, checking mpg to check if there is a major decrease in mpg which may indicate a need for maintenance. It may be “nice” to have a history of tank average, but it’s pretty useless information. Not saying not to track your “nice” tank average, just don’t see the point or its usefulness.

Part of me agrees with what you're saying. I'm not the guy who obsessively tracks my MPG's. I check in on it every now and then for the reason you describe. However, I certainly understand that some want to dig into the minutiae of it. To each their own. Some folks love data/statistics...just look at baseball fans for cryin' out loud.

The truck is the truck. I'd love to see my Yoda hitting the mileage some folks on the forum are posting: 23 or 24 mpg. I'm not getting that according to the computer in the truck. I'm not fretting over it either. I love the truck and can't wait to go camping to see how it compares in mpg to my gen 2 taco and my 2015 F150 2.7 Ecoboost.

In the meantime, I like reading these comments on Tacos so I know where my truck stands relative to others, with the caveat that there's SOOOOO much variation between trim levels, post-purchase buildouts and environmental conditions of the trucks we're all driving that having a true apples to apples comparison is damn near impossible. Thus, I crack a nice strong IPA, read the posts and enjoy the rosy glow of the buzz from the beer and the virtual reparte of our thoughts expecting that at some point, we'll all learn something useful.

He cares, so he asked. Why try to convince him not to care? I don't care about tire poke and other cosmetics that are very common discussions on TW, but there's no good reason to jump on anyone who cares about something I don't. They care about it because they care about it. Plus, MPG can be an indicator of engine operation, so it's reasonable to track. Try offering something constructive and helpful instead of trolling.
