Yea I noticed the same thing. Sitting at a little over 8K miles on mine and doesn't seem to be dusting that bad. Usually just pressure washing gets most of it off, but the inner barrels require more of a scrub, naturally.

It's possible the dealer put some shiny oily stuff on the wheels which is causing extra stuff to stick to it. Give it a good wash and see if that fixes it.

You saw that Car Car Nut video about Toyota factory pads vs. Toyota value pads sold at dealers? The factory pads are semi metallic and will dust more. The value pads (and Advics aftermarket pads) are ceramic and dust less.

Remove the pads and put some wheel bearing grease directly on the surface where it touches the rotor, that may help catch the dust before it gets on the wheels

You're kidding I hope... Never add grease to brake pads or rotors (Ok on pins and clips). If you do, you have just jeopardize you stopping distance.

Yeah some of the comments here are wild.
This isn’t my first new car. I’ve had cars with excessive brake dust coming off it. I was just wondering is it just me or is everyone else’s brake dust excessive too at first few hundred miles of ownership. I guess most people don’t even realized it or noticed it.

Even if, it wouldn't work very long. The surface area of the grease would get saturated with dirt and become ineffective.

You're reply read convincing, unfortunately for folks that may not know... And the ironic part is that I saw my neighbor lay large glob of grease on a rotor (I stopped him). I asked him why and he said, it came in the box and he thought it was to help break-in the pad. I couldn't believe my ears.

That was not a very smart thing to do. Especially for someone who goes around the site correcting peoples grammar.

OP could just drive around with it and ignore it like all the BMW drivers.

I’m well aware of excessive brake dust on BMW’s.

Honestly that's better than the Camry we have. It has black wheels and they looks absolutely gnarly after a couple weeks. It shows so much more than silver or gun-metal gray. I would think it would be the opposite o_O
