***THE TLDR, BE VERY CAREFUL AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT***

I had the absolute displeasure of visiting Ferris Chevrolet, Buick, Toyota of New Philadelphia Ohio this weekend. I was there to view what was described to me as a very nice 2014 TX Baja Access cab 4.0 auto 4x4 with only 59,000 miles and a “new frame.”

I should have known that something was up when I saw that this vehicle had been for sale for about 48 days…..

Well it appeared to have never been cleaned ever in its existence. Ever. No one even tried.
It had a nearly completely broken off gas door.
This frame was replaced 5 years ago in 2020 and wasn’t as immaculate as described.
A piece of the dash was broken and super glued back together.
One of the bed cubby doors was missing.
    A 12v outlet was broken.
The tonneau cover was duct taped together.
The front end had some sort of collision that was hidden by replacing the hood latch, headlights and grill. There was over spray in the engine bay so something had been painted, despite it being “accident free.”
    The interior smelled like puke.

Because this truck had a frame replacement and they dont make the TX baja suspension anymore, Toyota put Bilstein 4600 TRD offroad suspension on it. This caused the TX baja wheels to rub on the front fender liners so bad that it nearly ripped both almost completely out. One had been melted by the passenger side tire so badly that it looked like it was going to catch fire.

So its obvious that I did not purchase this unit and was very disappointed. I hope that whoever does, sees all these issues and gets a fair price for all those issues, and/or can handle fixing them to their needs.

But here comes the best part. A few vehicles down, they had a 2006 Indigo Ink Pearl SR5 base model 4x4 auto. With 156,000 miles….and this lovely situation:

    IMG_1676.jpg

That vehicle is inspected and on the lot for sale. That cant be legal.

PLEASE do not shop at this location. Avoid at all costs. Clearly they do not have any business selling Toyotas and i’m sure that Toyota Corporate would not be pleased to see the distasteful morals of the individuals running this establishment.

This is the truck I went to look at:

    image952.jpg

Its a crying shame this place has it and hasn't prepped it better than this. It could still be a really really nice truck for someone else for a very long time. I really hope someone else doesn’t get screwed when buying a vehicle here.

Wow, that’s crazy. I’ve also had a number of terrible experiences at various dealerships over the years. Toyota and others.

It’s to the point for me that I refuse to go to a dealership for anything, most of them are liars and thieves in my opinion. That sucks you got all excited about that truck and showed up to find a dud!

I don't know shit about these newer Tacomas, but somebody please tell me this frame didn't come from the factory looking like this. Has this truck been wrecked and the frame patched back together.

Ughhhhh that sucks so much. Were you considering it as a replacement for your recently wrecked beloved taco?

Is that frame a safety hazard or even legal with PA DOT ?

OH doesn't require yearly nor bi-yearly State Inspections. This is my only reasoning on why they have it listed for Sale. I'm sorry to hear they deceived and and flat out lied to you OP.

Neither does Maryland. Maryland requires inspection upon sale or resale.
