Installed the TRD skid plate that I scored off FB marketplace for $200. Also reinstalled the Miller Cat shield that I had taken off while I worked on the timing cover leak.

Lesson learned, I had installed the TRD skid plate first, but then I couldn't get to the front bolts on the Miller Cat shield so off came the TRD skid and then back on after the cat shield.

It's been a long weekend, I need to go back to work to get a break.

    lol

    Thanks for that.

I have the TRD Skid but it's mated up with the Talon CAT plate.

I over-torqued one of the security bolts and worked on removing it today with extractor kit...no dice!

I broke two of the drill bits...the second one got stuck way up inside!

Needless to say, I wrapped it up for the day...getting dinner and a beer now.

Most of my DIY skills result in a comedy of errors but with YouTube and persistence I can usually get the job done!

I’m planning to tackle the PCV sometime in the near future so we’ll see how that goes!

    Been a loooong weekend...

    1) De-badged (except the tailgate; might still do that. Really wish the didn't do that indented "TACOMA" thing)

    2) De-stickered (NOYB what trim)

    3) De-pinstriped (real pinstripes; not offroad pinstripes, the offroad ones are keepers)

    4) Put in a Bedrug (was considering a DIY, but the Bedrug was $100 off regular price so just went ahead and got one)

    5) Installed RSI Smartcap (I'll have a separate post later on this one-man build and install)

Damn, I avoid other cars in parking lots and find myself parallel parking all the time.

Stealth mode with the RSI cap looks good. Just need SR tail lights and bumper caps to finish the de-chrome.

I’m interested to see the details on your cap install, especially the weather-proofing to keep things dry.

I have a talon cat pro. My bolts were shot, not even the security ones. Doesn’t take much to round the interior of those heads. One came out fine the other 7 not so much. I used an extractor, broke a bit, got three out. Cut off the heads of 4 more and then spun them out by hand once the skid/pro was off. Got new hardware, stainless hex heads. Think it was 3 runs to the hardware store.

    Washed up the Tacos!

I love my 4th gen 2025 Princess but I must admit that my 2021 3rd gen is the Queen!

I shared this post on the 4th gen page (Tacomworld) but I'm sure that you will be more accepting of me labeling the 3rd gen as the "Queen". I'm a long time Taco owner since the first generation. It was really hard for me to let go of the second gen when upgrading to the 3rd gen. This time around I could not let go of the 3rd gen. Thankfully, I was in a good position to keep my 3rd gen when buying the new 4th gen. I must admit that the 4th gen drives amazing. I honestly think that all of the negative comments against the 4th gen from within the Taco community is just silly. Regardless of the generation Tacos will always reign!

    Cheers!

Having the same issue with my overhead piece. And driver door. I’ll have to try this too.

Bought a used Softopper of FB Marketplace last year and replaced the padding on the arms that attach to the bed rails and have some leftover. Gonna try that to help with the rattle. Thanks!

Thanks for the hookup. I ordered one and picked it up a couple of days ago. They said that something must be up as all of a sudden they got a lot of orders. I let them know about your post. Great job.

I did get rubbing on the mudflaps and a little on the inner edge of the fender flares (less than half an inch) but negligent and only pulling into the driveway. No rub driving around town. However, I took my stock mudflaps off and cut custom ones from some Rally armors I had laying around. Hope my OME UCA give me more caster so I can throw on my stock ones. More than likely if I took my wheel spacers off I'd get no rub.

I live in a rural area and travel to the suburbs. Haven't been on a city street in awhile. There isn't parallel parking spaces in the country, the doctor's office parking lot, the local shopping plaza parking lot or the Costco parking lot. :D

Welcome. The rattle in my overhead was intermittant, and considering I got 73k miles on now, I've been putting up with it for long time. While driving I could push up on the overhead component and the rattle would stop usually for a few days or so, but I got tire of doing that too, but that tricked me into thinking it was the whole component that was the issue. I really think it was that sos/call button, while the whole component was out this past time looking into it, I seriously could not believe the play in that button, from the inside my finger could rattle it like a, well, rattle. Good luck and let us know what you find.
